When I had finished building my 6C33C se amp I first connected it to my compact stereo and used that as a CD player and control amplifier. After a while I thought I needed something better so I bought a TEAC VRDS-T1 CD drive with a D-T1 D/A converter. This I used for a while but as I had planned to bring my turntable to Japan I needed a pre-amp with a RIAA stage.
SanEi had a nice pre-amp kit where the circuit was based on Marantz 7, the pre-amp looks different from outside though. This pre-amp was easy to build and the sound is real good. It also looks good with my other stereo things.
